Ursula Gertrud von der Leyen (born 8 October 1958) is a German physician and politician serving as President of the European Commission since 1 December 2019. She was nominated by the European Council in July 2019.

The von der Leyen Commission is the current European Commission in office since 1 December 2019 and is to last until the 2024 elections. The President is the head of the European Commission. According to the treaties, the President decides on the organisation of the Commission and allocates portfolios to the Commissioners. Ursula von der Leyen was born on 8 October 1958, in Brussels, Belgium. She is a Belgian-born German politician who is the first woman to serve as President of the European Commission. "I'm a proud European, a mother of seven, and I'm running for a second term as President of the European Commission," she said.
